Sullivan County Memorial Hospital (SCMH) is a not-for-profit, Critical Access Hospital located in rural north central Missouri in the county seat of Milan. The hospital was established in 1953 by the taxpayers and has remained the only acute care facility in Sullivan county. SCMH provides 24-hour emergency services as well as acute care; ambulatory surgery; skilled nursing care; radiology - including CT scans, MRI services, ultrasounds, and x-rays; laboratory; cardiopulmonary rehabilitation; mammography services on a quarterly basis from Ellis Fischel Medical Center; outpatient clinic and rural health clinics; respiratory therapy; registered dietician; telehealth and other ancillary services. In addition, in November of 2000 Sullivan County Memorial Hospital became a Critical Access Hospital providing Intermediate Care and Long Term Care units that are home to 25 residents. In December 1997, SCMH was nationally accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), a first in the 45-year history of the hospital.
