Description of Services and Other Information:
Health Professions Education, Recruitment, and Retention through-
Health Career Exploration: Coordinates Missouri AHEC Science and Health camps for middle school students, providing students with a three-day health career exploration opportunity.
Coordinates Youth academic enrichment program which focuses on identifying students interested in primary care health careers. PRIMO includes but is not limited to specific components directed toward young women, including placing young women students with women practitioners for shadowing experiences; lecture programs at academic enrichment camps by women primary care providers on the challenges and benefits of becoming a primary care practitioner.
Clinical Education of Health Professions Students: Facilitates clinical education experiences for health professions students. Housing and learning resources support for students. Student and practitioner workshops on providing healthcare in underserved communities.
Community resources: Coordinate continuing education activities in northeast Missouri for health professionals including physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and mental health professionals. Provide health education material for community health outreach through local health departments.
