The Northeast Missouri Rural Health Network (NMRHN) was formed in January of 1998 by four concerned health care providers collaborating to improve health care services in the counties of Adair, Clark, Knox, Lewis, Linn, Macon, Putnam, Schuyler, Scotland, Shelby and Sullivan.  The charter members included the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, Northeast Regional Medical Center, Northeast Missouri Health Council, and Hospice of Northeast Missouri. 

Today, the Network is still committed to coordinating and improving the access of quality basic health care services to all residents, with a special emphasis on impacting populations such as the medically underserved, uninsured and underinsured.  The NMRHN has grown to 27 member agencies consisting of rural hospitals, county health departments, ambulance districts, an air ambulance service, medical education agencies, mental health providers, a nursing home, hospice, pregnancy resource center, independent physicians association, association for handicapped citizens, independent living center, student health center and regional arthritis center.
